Fantastic Pewits thrash Ossett to claim derby day spoils.

Emley remain as Northern Premier League Division 1 East leaders, inflicting pain in the rain on bottom club Ossett United with a 4-0 battering in a West Yorkshire derby at Ingfield.

In truth, it could probably have been a lot more had former Emley keeper Alexs Petrovic not performed superbly in Ossett's nets and had Emley not been so wasteful in front of goal, but the Emley fans, who travelled in huge numbers to boost the crowd of 771, Ossett's biggest for nearly 2 seasons all went home happy with their side's haul.

The weather was mild but breezy as Emley wasted little time in asserting their dominance, following a 3rd minute corner, Metcalfe fired a free kick goalwards but Petrovic tipped it over the bar, another corner followed but Ossett couldn't clear their lines as Emley kept them pinned down, another free kick from the left was deflected for a corner.

Berchil and Lawrence were causing problems down both flanks and Emley were splitting Ossett apart everytime they came forward, a foul on Berchil brough the games' first yellow card as Ossett were becoming desperate to stop the league leaders.

They managed to hold out for 11 minutes before the Pewits broke the deadlock, a ball down the right flank found Lawrence who beat the defender and played a ball into Luke Parkin, who saw his shot deflected into the path of Laurence Sorhaindo who smashed past Petrovic to notch his first Emley goal.

There was no let up though as Emley again pushed Ossett back, Parkin saw an opportunity to shoot but his shot was wide, his midfield partner Chris Dawson also fancied his chances but he saw a couple of efforts pass him by, one went wide, the next just a minute later, over as Emley's goal attempts continue to rise.

There was a quarter of the game gone before the hosts finally put an attack together, but following the initial break, the wrong option saw the attack come to an end with Emley looking stretched in defence.

Back came the Pewits, Sorhaindo stung the hands of Petrovic before Dawson put another shot wide as Ossett again struggled to get the ball clear, Petrovic was having one of the busiest days of his life, a minute later he was called into action as his defence crumbled in front of him again, this time, denying Baldwin.

Emley's next attack saw Parkin pull another one wide and he was then unlucky to not finish off a good move with Berchil playing in the final ball, Berchil again, a minute later tormented the Ossett full back but couldn't get his shot on target.

At times, it was Emley v Petrovic as the hosts were totally outclassed, the ex Emley stopper had to be on his toes to stop a Sorhaindo shot, the ball came back out to Berchil who was thwarted by Petrovic, it was then recycled by Cowgill to Sorhaindo at the back post but his header was wide.

Right on half time and with the sky darkening, Metcalfe fired a free kick into the Ossett wall before drilling the rebound over, the sky then emptied it's contents all over the ground as everyone ran for some cover.

H/T- Ossett United 0-1 Emley.

The second half began as the first half had ended, in torrential rain, the sodden pitch held up well considering, but there was no let up in Emley's torment of their hosts, within a minute of the restart, Emley had won a corner which was cleared, Berchil then put in a nice low ball into the danger area but there was no one there to finish it off.

In Emley's last away win at Bishop Auckland, a dominant first half was followed by an early goal in the second half to effectively end the game as a contest as they came away with a 4-0 win, the very same pattern happened here, a great ball from Dawson found Amir Berchil on the left who sprung the offside trap and found a fine finish inside the near post to double Emley's lead.

The contest may have been over and there was a feeling that Emley could and would go on and post a big score now as Ossett simply had no answer, Berchil again teased the defender before putting a ball into the area but Petrovic was equal to it, Petrovic was on hand to save Ossett again though as Metcalfe saw his shot saved, the corner came back out to Berchil who sliced his shot wide.

James Walshaw, who was the target of some stick from Ossett's youthful fans came on to replace Sorhaindo and he was straight into the thick of it, appealing for a penalty after tumbling in the are, the ref having none of it, following a great run down the right from Sheppeard, Walshaw couldn't quite make contact with the cross.

Emley were relentless in attack, but also, in shutting down everything that Ossett tried, to leave the hosts visibly frustrated and unable to handle the league leaders, Berchil and then Parkin saw shots inch wide and then Cowgill thundered one over from a lovely cut back from Metcalfe.

Berchil was now able to do whatever he wanted to do down Emley's left, urged on by the big Emley support packed into the stand on that side, he again cut in and whistled a shot wide as Petrovic was left grasping.

Just over 70 minutes and the hosts found themselves with a rare attack, a good ball down their right saw Emley stretched at the back but the shot/cross was badly sliced and went miles wide of Lambton's goals.

Berchil and Walshaw combined for Emley's next chance which, by now were well into double figures, Walshaw's shot was well saved by Petrovic, within a minute, Emley would have a third, and a cracker it was too!

With Ossett unable to clear their lines and push Emley back, the ball was moved right to left then back again, until Luke Parkin picked up the ball 18 yards out, took a steadying touch and rifled a shot into the back of net with Petrovic, and Ossett, well beaten.

More Emley changes with the 3 points long since sewn up, Keita, who set up Parkin's goal for Donae Lawrence, Berchil and Parkin were replaced by Curtis and Malumo respectively.

Keita found space inside the are after outwitting the defence but his shot was saved by Petrovic and then Dawson set up a curling shot but it drifted just wide, Emley then had to defend as Ossett looked for a consolation, but Cowgill stuck a leg in to thwart the hosts who had to settle for a corner.

Emley then made their final change in the 90th minute as Barks replaced the outstanding Chris Dawson, and with the game ticking into the second minute of added time, Emley banged their 4th in to repeat the scorelines from away trips to Consett and Bishop Auckland, after toying with the Ossett defence, the ball was worked into the area for Alhassane Keita to smash past Petrovic and celebrate with the Emley fans who taunted the Ossett contingent who were heading for the exit.

It was total domination for Emley who defended when they needed to but they simply outclassed Ossett in every department to claim their 8th win in 11 league outings to put them 2 points clear of second placed Belper Town, with a county cup tie with Wombwell Main coming up on Tuesday, Emley fans, including a happy gateman cheered their team off the soaked Ingfield pitch.
