Sponsor Spotlight | Moxon & Co

Steve Downes13 Mar 2024 - 11:02

Learn about our club sponsors with our weekly spotlight. This week: Moxon & Co

At Emley AFC we are proud to partner with so many businesses - both locally and further afield. The club appreciates the backing of its valued sponsors and with that we wanted to give them a huge thank-you.

Without their continued dedicated support we wouldn't be able to operate the club in the way we do. They are an integral part of our Emley family.

Moxon & Co, a well-known business and one with a fantastic reputation. They are a diversified family investment fund, involved with property investment, property development, equity investments, and consultancy. Based in Leeds they are proud to say that their business concentration is in and around Yorkshire.

Company owner David Worthington explained about the business: “We are driven to succeed for our families, both my business partner and I have young children, but we also have a number of external business partners, and staff, that rely on our combined successes.

“The business landscape is a tricky one to navigate, especially in the current financial climate, but given the challenges we have all been through over the last few years we stand by the old adage, putting in the work should reap the reward, just like you see in sport.”

David is passionate about Emley AFC and is delighted Moxon & Co is part of the club, he said: “It’s very important that businesses get behind the club, having had some insight into the constant financial demands, sponsorship needs to remain at the forefront.

“This is even more pertinent as the club looks to grow both on and off the pitch. I’m always impressed by the constant improvements in and around the ground, and I know a lot of hard work goes into this, but compared to some of the other clubs I’ve seen Emley really does stand in the league as one of the more premier venues.

“We were originally approached by Tony (previous Commercial Director & Board Member) a few years ago to become a sponsor, and we jumped at the opportunity, it’s not about advertising and exposure, it’s about supporting the club.”

Moving forward David is excited for the future and to continue growing a great relationship with the club.

He commented: “A match that my son and I went to recently was away at Knaresborough. It started with some refereeing controversy which made for both an intense match and atmosphere.

“In the second half we moved position to stand near the goal Emley were attacking, which they did on numerous occasions, and after going down to 10 men they did the business.

“It was a well celebrated goal, the Emley fans were in fine voice that day, it certainly quietened down the Knaresborough centre half too.

“It would be fantastic to see Emley make automatic promotion this season, the way they are going about their business certainly seems elevated from last year.

“With a good cup run under their belt and a winning mindset, this season is theirs for the taking. If not, then let’s see what the lottery of the playoffs can bring.

“On a personal level it’s great to get behind Emley, and semi-pro football in general, the atmosphere is always great and family friendly wherever you go.

“I’ve managed to convince a few people to come and watch the odd match, and they always comment how good it is compared to some of the cold and clinical football environments in the top flights. Up the Pewits!
