It’s a journey to the south bank of the Humber for Richard Tracey’s Emley when they visit Winterton Rangers in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division on Saturday (3pm).

It’s Emley’s first league away fixture since visiting Hemsworth on the 14th of October, although they did have away ties in both the FA Vase and Sheffield County cups, although the county cup game was switched to Emley.

The high-flying Pewits will be looking to keep their 18 game unbeaten run going and maintain 2nd place in the table, a table that’s becoming a little bit congested around the top, Emley are 2nd on 29 points, 5 behind leaders North Ferriby, Winterton are 5th on 26 points but Emley have a better goal difference than any other of the chasing pack.

Winterton were Emley’s first ever NCEL Premier Division opponents when the sides drew 0-0 on the last day of July last year, the teams also played out an entertaining 3-3 draw at Emley in April this year.

The two sides have met regularly over the last few seasons in league and cup with Emley posting some big wins in that period, a 10-0 thumping from September 2015 is unlikely to be repeated anytime soon though!

Both teams are in good form going into the game, Emley haven’t lost in 18 games while Winterton have only lost twice in their last 10, to North Ferriby and to Prestwich Heys in the Vase.
A win would keep Emley's promotion hopes ablaze but Rangers will be hoping to douse the Pewits' fire on bonfire night.
