Emley are back in FA Cup action this Saturday when we are on the road to the north east again, this time to face Morpeth Town in the 1st qualifying round (3pm).
Following last weekend's successful trip up the A1, when Emley collected 3 league points from a 4-0 thrashing of Consett, we face a tougher test this time as we travel even further north to Northumberland to face a Morpeth side currently a level above Emley in the NPL Premier Division.
It's a repeat of a previous FA Cup tie back in 2010 when The Pewits won 2-1 at Craik Park, the only meeting between the sides, Emley have already seen off north west opposition twice in the form of FC St Helens and Trafford and now must face a north eastern opponent who are making their bow in this year's competition.
Morpeth Town, are nicknamed The Highwaymen and were founded in 1909 and are based at Craik Park in Morpeth, and played in the Northern Alliance league, winning the league in 1983-84 and 1993-94, earning promotion to the Northern League in 1994, they won the NL D2 title 2 years later and then being relegated back to NL2 in 2010, finishing bottom but avoiding relegation back to the Northern Alliance the season after that.
They were promoted back to NL1 in 2012-13 and have been on an upward trajectory since, winning successive promotions including the NPL D1 East title and promotion to the NPL Premier in 2019 where they have been since.
They enjoyed success in the FA Vase in 2016, defeating Hereford 4-1 at Wembley and also enjoyed the 2021-22 season, reaching the 4th qualifying round of the FA Cup, losing in a replay to York City and also the 5th round of the FA Trophy, losing out to York once again.
Emley are currently 6 games unbeaten in the new season, 4 league games and 2 cup games, not including the abandoned game with Brighouse in midweek and are 3rd in the NPL D1 East while Morpeth are 16th in the Premier Division with 2 wins and 4 defeats from their 6 games so far but enjoyed an excellent 4-1 win away at Blyth Spartans on Monday.

Consett 0-4 Emley ( Pashley 2, Berchil, Keita) Att- 362, NPL D1 E.
