Preview: Brighouse Town (A)

Martin Eastwood30 Dec 2024 - 10:00

Pewits make short trip to Brighouse in West Yorkshire derby.

Emley travel to Brighouse Town on New Year's day for another West Yorkshire derby in the Northern Premier League Division One East (3pm).

In what will be an 8th West Yorkshire derby so far this season for us, Emley will look to maintain a tremendous away record with only one defeat to leaders Cleethorpes Town in the league so far to keep on the tails of the top two, Cleethorpes and Belper.

Brighouse need points to help themselves as they are embroiled in a tussle to avoid relegation at the bottom end, only 4 points separate 15th to 21st, Town currently occupy 19th spot with 21pts.

Boxing day's abandoned game v Stocksbridge was Emley's second so far this season, ironically, the other was against Brighouse when an serious looking injury to Brighouse keeper Kyle Trenerry required ambulance assistance, thankfully, he made a full recovery and Emley won the replayed game by 2-1 back in September.

Emley's last outing was a 2-1 home win over Grimsby Borough, while Brighouse suffered a 3-0 loss at Garforth Town on boxing day, Town have only won 1 of their previous 9 in all competitions.

This will be the 8th competitive meeting between the sides, not counting the abandoned game which saw Emley lead 1-0 when proceedings were halted, there have been 3 wins each and a draw so nothing between the sides over the years.

Last time out:
Garforth Town 3-0 Brighouse Town, Att- 406, NPL D1 East
Emley 2-1 Grimsby Borough (Baldwin, Parkin) Att- 357, NPL D1 East.
