Pewits look to end form slump and maintain second.

Emley welcome Ashington to the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground for a crucial Northern Premier League Division One East clash on Saturday (3pm).

Second placed Emley have hit a slump of form recently and their play off spot is under threat as other teams in and around the play offs have found some form.

Last weekend's 3-0 defeat at Dunston was Emley's second in succession, but more worryingly, it was the fourth goal conceded in two away games, until those last two games, our away record was as good as it got, only 1 defeat and 3 goals conceded in the previous 14 games.

We have also failed to score in any of our last three games against Heaton Stannington, North Ferriby and Dunston.

Our home form has been good recently though, unbeaten in our last 8 league games at home, and 9 altogether, we will look to find our form back and get back to challenging Cleethorpes at the top of the league against an Ashington side that have lost their last two league fixtures and sit 14th and aren't safe from any relegation worries yet.

Ashington AFC were formed in 1883 and the club have played in a number of local and regional leagues, including the Northern Alliance, the East Northumberland League, the North Eastern League, the Midland League, Wearside League and the North Regional League. They were a founding member of the Football League Third Division North in 1921 and are the northernmost team to have played in the Football League.

The club were later founder members of the Northern Premier League in 1968 and had been in the Northern League since 1970, they won promotion back to the NPL in 2022-23, beating Glossop in an inter league play off and play at Woodhorn Lane.

This will be the first ever meeting between the sides and the return fixture in Northumberland will take place in 2 weeks.

Last time out:
Dunston 3-0 Emley, Att- 288, NPL D1 E
Ashington 2-3 North Ferriby, (Gilchrist 2), Att- 412, NPL D1 E
