Emley head to Northumberland on Saturday (3pm) to face Ashington in what is our longest trip in the Northern Premier League Division One East this year.
Following our longest trip south, to Carlton on wednesday, the compass now points north once again as we head up the A1 for the 7th and possibly final time this season looking to get back on the promotion push.
Wednesday's 1-0 defeat in Notts was our 3rd away defeat in our last 4 and on our travels, having had such a good record for so long, although we are still in the play off race, we have lost our grip on second place and now in a seemingly 6 way battle for the 4 play off places.
Ashington need points themselves as they are embroiled in a battle at the bottom, they are currently just 1 place and 2 points off the drop zone and haven't won since mid February, so 3 points would be absolutely vital to both clubs.
Ashington AFC were formed in 1883 and the club have played in a number of local and regional leagues, including the Northern Alliance, the East Northumberland League, the North Eastern League, the Midland League, Wearside League and the North Regional League. They were a founding member of the Football League Third Division North in 1921 and are the northernmost team to have played in the Football League.
The club were later founder members of the Northern Premier League in 1968 and had been in the Northern League since 1970, they won promotion back to the NPL in 2022-23, beating Glossop in an inter league play off and play at Woodhorn Lane.
This will be only the second meeting between the clubs, Emley winning the first ever meeting just 3 weeks ago.
