Wombwell Main currently play in the Sheffield and Hallamshire County Senior League Premier Division and sit 3rd after 9 games following their 1-1 draw with Dodworth on Saturday, coincidentally , Wombwell Main beat Dodworth to secure their tie against the Northern Premier League Division 1 East leaders.

Wombwell Main were formed around the turn of the 20th century and played in local Barnsley leagues until they became members of the SHSCL in 1996-97, winning 2 promotions to the Premier Division in 98-99 and becoming champions at the first attempt, a remarkable 3 seasons for the club.

They followed this up with 3 more titles before relegation to Division 1 in 2014-15 but bounced straight back up, they reached the FA Cup 2nd qualifying round way back in 1908-09.

Emley maintained their lead at the top of the NPL D1 East with a 4-0 trouncing of Ossett United on Saturday and had previously seen off Dinnington Town in the first round of this competition, which, Emley won for the first time in 25 years in 2023-24.
