It is with great sadness we have to report the passing of our long-time supporter and great friend John Lum after a short illness.
A permanent fixture behind the goals at Emley for decades, John was a universally liked and respected man.
Andrew Painten, Emley AFC Chairman said: “I’m emotional writing these words as I can’t believe we won’t see John again. Every time he entered the ground, you could tell he was always happy to be back ‘home’. I also always knew it was nearly half-time as he made his way from his usual spot behind the goal to the bar in order to beat the queue. He was incredibly supportive of the club and its volunteers, including myself and my fellow board members. He will be very much missed.”
The club extends our condolences to John’s widow Sandra, John’s family and friends at Emley and beyond.
John’s funeral will take place at Huddersfield Crematorium on Tuesday 11th April at 2.45pm. Family flowers only please but donations in John’s memory to Emley AFC.
We’ll discuss a suitable tribute with John’s family at a later date.
