Altofts AFC are now in partnership with Emley - this is the fourth club to forge formal links with the Northern Counties East League Premier Division side.
As well as their recently promoted first team, Emley AFC also have a growing Academy with an Under 23 side and a new Under 18s.
Wakefield-based community club Altofts AFC were established in 1894 and, as well as open-age mens sides, also encompass Altofts Juniors and Altofts Ladies - with over 18 teams now playing under the Altofts badge.
Emley’s vice-chairman Marcus Pound and club captain Jamie Price, an Altofts lad himself, recently visited Lock Lane to seal with deal with Altofts manager Richard Eyles.
Emley AFC vice-chairman Marcus Pound said: “We’re proud to link up with such an historic and successful club. Altofts have been around for almost 130 years and their future looks very bright with so many players participating. We hope to be able to help them with any challenges they might face and learn a thing or two from them as well.”
Altofts AFC manager Richard Eyles said: “I think it’s a great step for Altofts to take and great to be associated with a club of the stature of Emley. Having known Marcus Pound, Richard Tracey and Sam Sutton for a number of years, I know we are linking up with good individuals as well as a top club which can only be a positive move. We already benefit from the work of Marcus on our pitch which has seen the surface come on leaps and bounds over the last year. I have no doubt Emley can help us progress in other areas of our club in a similar fashion."
Emley AFC has previously announced links with Yorkshire RTC, Thornes Juniors, Shepley FC and now Altofts AFC. The tie-ups are aimed at providing support for and amongst the partner clubs in whatever areas are required to meet their objectives.
