13th Club Partner for Emley AFC

Emley AFC is proud to announce a new and exciting partnership with Scissett FC and Nortonthorpe Sports Club (NSC), aimed at strengthening community football, increasing participation, and sharing resources for the benefit of all three clubs.

This collaboration will create new opportunities for players, coaches, and supporters, fostering a stronger grassroots football network in the area. The partnership will see all three organisations work together on initiatives such as coaching and mentoring programs, shared facilities, player development pathways, and community events.

Andrew Painten, Chairman of Emley AFC, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating:

“This is a fantastic opportunity for all involved. By working together, we can create a stronger footballing community that benefits everyone—from young players starting their journey to experienced volunteers who give so much to local sport. We’re excited to provide coaching support, matchday experiences, and promotional opportunities for Scissett FC and Nortonthorpe Sports Club, while also promoting their excellent facilities and local engagement.”

As part of the agreement, Emley AFC will offer Scissett FC access to its facilities for showcase matches, provide coaching support, and create a structured player development pathway to help young players progress to a higher level. Additionally, Scissett FC junior players will have the chance to be mascots for Emley’s first team, enhancing their connection to senior football.

Nortonthorpe Sports Club, which plays a key role in community sport in the Scissett and Clayton West areas, offer training spaces, assist with social and fundraising events, and work with Emley AFC to increase the use of their facilities.

Luke Dawson, Scissett FC Head of Seniors and NSC Trustee, added:

“We are delighted to formalise this partnership with Emley AFC. Our clubs share a common goal of growing football in the community and ensuring that players at all levels have the best possible opportunities. The support we have already received, particularly around pitch maintenance, has been invaluable. We look forward to working closely together to develop our facilities, create more pathways for players, and build a thriving grassroots football scene.”

To celebrate the launch of the partnership, Scissett FC will play a home game at Emley’s Fantastic Media Welfare Ground on Friday 28th March, against Collegians.

Kick-off is at 7.45pm, with gates, the bar, and the Dugout Diner open from 6.30pm. Entry is free, and everyone is welcome to attend and show their support for local football.
