Ashley's record-breaking goalscoring season - resulting in a tremendous 73 goals in all competitions - made headlines and brought attention from around the world.

After considering offers from several clubs, Ash has committed himself to AFC Emley for 2016-17.

The 'official' 73 goal milestone - which would have been more but for the resignation of another club - was marked with a special award at the recent AFC Emley presentation evening. The board of the Toolstation NCEL has also invited him to the annual dinner in Scarborough next month to mark the achievement.

Ash's Emley career started with a 42-goal haul in 2012-13. After spending 2013-14 with the promotion-winning Shaw Lane Aquaforce, he returned mid-way through the 2014-15 campaign to hit 16 goals in an injury-hit season.

AFC Emley Chairman, Nigel Wakefield said: "We've just had a brilliant season and Ash was absolutely at the forefront of that. But with the play-off final defeat there's a sense of unfinished business and I'm delighted he's coming back to help us try and put that right."

Manager Darren Hepworth had already retained the services of new captain Kieran Ryan for next season and the club will have further announcements of some exciting new signings in the next few days.
