After Emley hit top spot with the weekend’s 4-2 comeback win over Daisy Hill, it’s a break from the league as the Pewits start their Sheffield and Hallamshire County FA Senior Cup campaign on Wednesday evening at the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground.

Sheffield-based Jubilee Sports are the visitors in this third round tie having impressively dispatched Harworth Colliery 6-3 in the previous round.

Emley on the other hand make their bow without kicking a ball in the cup so far this season. A first round bye was followed by a second round walk-over when St Josephs Rockware of Worksop failed to field a team.

Saturday’s league win for Emley was a good response to two disappointing results that blotted the copy book at the end of a all conquering run through October.

In their last three outings since the win at Harworth in the previous round, they have won two and lost one with a high scoring 8-2 win over Burngreave in their last match. Top scorer is ever-present Innocent Enos Huly with 9 goals in 14 starts.

Originally a Sports and Social club for Bass Brewery, this modern day members club have had success with County Senior League, League Cup and County Association Cup honours within the past five years.
